A ‘Paleo’ or Paleolithic diet excludes grains, legumes, dairy, and concentrates mainly on vegetables, fruit, roots, nuts, fish, and grass-fed pasture raised meat. Many of Schinoussa’s products in that vein feature ‘superfood’ algae (many of which include algae from the sea near the Island the company is named after) as a key component, and this new line of protein powders do, as well. But their main ingredient is Sacha Inchi seeds (which some call 'Savi' seeds), which are from the star- (or in some cases, Fleur-de-Lis-) shaped fruit of the South American plant formally known asPlukenetia volubilis(and informally as sacha-, mountain- or Inca-peanuts).
Sacha Inchi seeds are similar to hemp seeds, with very high concentrations of Omega-3 fatty acids and complete proteins - higher than most seeds or nuts. They’re also excellent inflammation and free-radical fighters, making this an excellent source of protein for muscle building, muscle repair, and immune function.
